Flux Factory's newest project is "Going Places, Doing Stuff," a series of interactive tours given by artists. Here is what THEY say about it:
"Going Places (Doing Stuff)—you get on a bus, you don’t know where you’re going, and then something happens. Flux Factory invites New Yorkers to take a tour with artists who have become tour guides for the city. For six weeks, the general public can sign up for personally designed artist tours that range from a single afternoon to 3 days. The content of the tours are entirely up to the artists, though where you will be going is secret. Even to you!
The tours will all be free and open to the public, the only limitation being capacity. All tours will be first-come first-serve. Riders can sign up for tours by writing jean@fluxfactory.org or calling 718-707-3362."
Kate lives/ed at Flux, which is essentially how I ended up on a school bus at 7am in Queens, wondering whether my head was on straight.
Annie's tour: "I Live on Reichert Avenue," was an autobiographical road trip to New Jersey to visit Annie's dad.
It began with an hour or so ride into New Jersey....

....to a flea market!
We all found items to treasure....

Next stop was blueberry picking on a local farm...
Then, we arrived at Annie's dad's house, where we were greeted by glad tidings of other people's family, incredibly delicious food, inviting chairs and blankets, and BEER!

After the unscheduled deluge, we were off for a two hour party bus ride in disco heaven back to New York!

Thanks Marcus for diving safe and letting us stop to pee!
In all honesty, this tour was one of the most poignant, awe-inspiring, genuinely fun experiences I've ever had with complete strangers. Thank you Annie, and thank you Jean! Most of all, thank you Kate-where would I be without you?! Yeah! You did it!
